After Donald and his wife took care of his mother, who died from the disease, he knew that the best thing to do for himself was to get involved. He initially participated in the Biogen Engage study and has continued to enroll in sub-studies since. A retired lawyer, he has great passion in contributing to research.He did not lose hope when Aducanumab came under scrutiny, saying he would just screen for another study and participate in that one!
While the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult, he has not stopped going to his appointments, and his loved ones have been sending him letters to keep him engaged.
