Mary’s dedication to the program has been exemplary, if Mary believes that she is helping future generations, she is game for anything. She has shown her community the importance of volunteerism with a “someone has to this” attitude which she has carried with her through her life.
In addition to raising two children with a full-time job, Mary prioritized volunteering. She was a board member for 2 residential facilities for individuals with dementia, a tour guide for a local heritage village and at her local hospital. Mary and her husband see participation in clinical trials as an extension of her volunteerism. When asked about the benefits of participating in clinical trials Mary has consistently always answered “to help other people”. Her kind smile and friendly, welcoming demeanor help to make others new to clinical trials feel like they are in a safe welcoming place.
