Mickeal Key, PhD

Mickeal is an acting consultant, primarily for GAP’s Inclusive Research Initiative (IRI) team and other recruitment and strategic needs. She is knowledgeable about equitable research design and recruitment, especially as it relates to the inclusion of historically excluded racial and ethnic groups from clinical research. Her research background is focused on the neural mechanisms by which non-pharmaceutical interventions impact cognition in older adults, with a focus on nutrition. Mickeal has a B.S. in Psychology and a B.S. in Biology from Louisiana State University Shreveport, an M.S. in Experimental Psychology from Indiana State University, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. She is currently receiving training as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Kansas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in neuroimaging and the design and implementation of lifestyle interventions to support healthy brain aging.
