Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation Welcomes Tandem Clinical Research Site to its Network

Global non-profit expands research network to the greater New Orleans area
to improve access to research opportunities

Washington D.C., June. 17, 2024- Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation® (GAP) is welcoming its first clinical research site from Louisiana into its network, Tandem Clinical Research of greater New Orleans.

Tandem Clinical Research, a Prolerity Clinical Research Company site, advances the science of medicine while improving the quality of life of patients. The medical team believes in providing exemplary care to patients while conducting research with compassion and respect to study participants in the greater New Orleans area.

“We welcome the opportunity to expand our network in greater New Orleans,” said GAP President John Dwyer. “At GAP, we are committed to accelerating clinical research for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and we want to ensure that the research represents all who are impacted by these diseases. In New Orleans, where more than 50% of the residents are African American, we expect to work with Tandem to improve access to the cutting-edge CNS research we can jointly pursue, as we welcome the site to our network.”

Tandem Clinical Research is now part of GAP’s network of more than 100 clinical trial sites, GAP-Net, which includes academic and private research sites dedicated to advancing clinical research for Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.

There are 6.7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and that’s expected to   more than double to 13.8 million people by 2060. In Louisiana, it is currently estimated that 12.4% of the population is living with dementia[1]. The only way to find treatments and cures for this disease is through clinical trials, and so GAP is pleased to join forces with Tandem Clinical Research to accelerate the needed clinical research.
