Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation Applauds Congressional Funding Increase for Alzheimer’s Research

Washington D.C., Jan 20, 2026, The Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation® (GAP) applauds the House and Senate Committees on appropriations releasing their final bipartisan FY2026 Labor–Health and Human Services–Education appropriations bill which increases funding for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia research.

“Congress’s bipartisan approval of increased funding for neurodegenerative research sends a powerful message to the millions of Americans affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Strengthened investment at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ensures researchers can build on advances and sustain decades of momentum, momentum that is necessary to accelerate progress toward effective treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.

The additional funding reflects a clear understanding of the scale and urgency of this crisis. We strongly encourage lawmakers to see this commitment through final passage and to sustain robust, long-term investment that brings real hope to people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia nationwide. In the same manner, we also urge the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to support timely access for early cognitive screening and diagnostic tools for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

We also thank our allies and advocates, like UsAgainstAlzheimer’s who have helped to keep this funding a priority, cutting across party lines. Alzheimer’s disease impacts millions and we look forward to continuing collaborations that will speed research until there is a cure.”
