Mary Surine

Mary’s warmth, positivity, and compassion to our research community, made a lasting impression during her 10-night overnight stay. Her unwavering dedication to the study, even in challenging circumstances, reflected her strong belief in the power of research to change lives. Sharing the experience with her beloved niece, whom she lovingly calls her daughter, highlighted the deep bonds and support that define her character. Mary’s joyful spirit, engaging conversations, and ever-present knitting brought comfort and connection to both staff and fellow participants. Her commitment to finding treatments for memory loss inspires hope for future generations and exemplifies the heart of our mission.

“I joined so that my grandchildren and the younger generation will hopefully have a cure for Alzheimer’s, and they won’t have to experience this disease ever. My grandmother also had Alzheimer’s and was in a state hospital for the end of her life due to the disease. It was very sad to see her in this hospital in the state she was in. My hope is that this trial can help lead us to the end of Alzheimer’s disease for good, so nobody has to end up in a similar situation to my grandmother.”
