Bobby’s wife Carol was in an accident in her late 50s and didn’t know where she was. Realizing her mother had been diagnosed with dementia in her 80s, they reached out to a local center in their hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts. Wanting something more, Bobby and Carol traveled 200 miles round trip to Brigham and Women’s CART to get involved in research.
As Carol’s study partner, Bobby has taken an active role in not only her care, but in his community. He speaks at outreach events, his church, and to anyone who will listen. His faith and his family are his biggest motivator, saying participating in research has validated their religious beliefs.
