Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation Welcomes Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research to its Global Network

Washington D.C., Nov. 18, 2024- Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation® (GAP) is welcoming a new clinical research site into its international network of best-in-class research sites, Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research of Jacksonville, Florida.

Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research (JCCR) is a premier clinical research site, having conducted more than 1,000 clinical trials over 25 years with worldwide recognition for providing access to cutting-edge medical research. The team at JCCR takes pride in the support and care that they provide for the volunteers who make clinical studies possible.

“We welcome the opportunity to expand our network to Jacksonville, Florida,” said GAP President John Dwyer. “At GAP, we are committed to accelerating clinical research for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, and we want to ensure that the research represents all who are impacted by these diseases. In Jacksonville, nearly one third of the population is African American, and we enthusiastically support Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research as they expand brain health education and improve access to the cutting-edge CNS research in the community.”

JCCR joins more than 130 clinical trial sites that make up the global research network, GAP- Net, which supports clinical trials to advance and accelerate neurodegenerative research. GAP collaborates with both private and academic research sites in the effort to find treatments, and ultimately a cure, for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, among others. There are 6.9 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and that’s expected to nearly double to 12.7 million people by 2050. In Florida, it is estimated that 12.5% of the population is living with dementia1. The only way to find treatments and cures for this disease is through clinical trials.
