Eric is an inspirational and impressive volunteer who is like a magnet, naturally drawing in people with his compelling stories and personal experiences. His presence consistently generates strong interest in clinical research. At a large senior-focused event in February, thanks to his involvement, we had 12 individuals sign up for a pre-screen. Eric has also played a valuable role in helping to share research with more diverse communities. While planning for two local Pride events, his warm and approachable nature made a big impact—people from all walks of life were drawn to him at those events. Eric is vocal about his belief that “we must find a cure,” a mission that extends well beyond his personal circumstances. He openly shares his journey, along with that of his father and sister, to raise awareness and connect with others. Eric practices what he preaches by staying physically, mentallyand socially engaged—regularly doing puzzles and word games, and actively participating in local events. He also volunteers at a community theatre, where he manages the concession stand and has earned praise for his innovative marketing ideas.
